Two railway staff namely Shri Arjun Routh, Technician/Grade-II and Shri Vivek Kumar/Helper working under Carriage & Wagon department at New Jalpaiuri were awarded by Shri Sanjive Roy, General Manager, N.F.Railway for showing exceptional alertness and devotion towards duty.
While on duty during evening shift at New Jalpaiguri Goods yard they detected that both trolley & all wheels skidded and 2 nos side snubber spring broken and displaced of wagon number 953558 of a UP Goods train. The Goods train was loaded with Food grain bound for Haibargaon. They immediately informed the Engineer incharge of the yard. The wagon was properly checked and found to be unfit to run due to defects noticed.
Thus a possible mishap could be averted due to alertness.
In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing mishaps/accident both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs.2, 000/- (Rupees Two thousand only) each along with a certificate by General Manager, N.F. Railway at Maligaon on 6th April, 2018.
