Nine railway staff awarded for exceptional devotion towards duty

Nine railway staff namely Shri Prakash Kalita, Loco Pilot/ Mail/New Bongaigaon, Shri Aman Kumar, Sr. Asst. Loco Pilot / New Bongaigaon, Shri Birendra Mohan Das, Track Maintainer-IV/Chaygaon, Md. Rijul Ali, Track Maintainer-IV/Chaygaon, Shri Ratul Ch. Neog, Track Maintainer –III / Viswanath Chariali, Shri Gagada Ramanna, Gateman / Salbari, Shri Haridas Roy, Track Maintainer –IV / Samuktala Road, Shri Santosh Kumar Jha, Station Manager / Maniyan, Shri Mukul Linda, Station Manager / Kumedpur were awarded by Shri Lokesh Narayan, Addl. General Manager, N.F.Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty during the month of December-2017.

Shri Prakash Kalita and Shri Aman Kumar while working by Train No-25658 dn o­n 12.12.2017, heard a loud sound and felt heavy jerk in between Pundibari  – Sajerpar  at KM 113/6-5. They immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brakes and noticed that left side of the rail was broken by about 5.5”.  A probable mishap was thus averted.  In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accident both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- each alongwith a certificate.

Shri Birendra Mohan Das and Md. Rijul Ali while performing patrolling duty o­n 02.12.17 between Mirza and Chaygaon at KM 144/4-5. They detected a weld failure and immediately reported to Station Master & Sr Section Engineer/P-Way/Chaygaon.  A probable mishap was thus averted.  In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accident both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- each alongwith a certificate.

On 17.12.2017, Shri Ratul Chandra Neog, Track Maintainer was performing duty as a Keyman between Vishwanath Charali – Nizbargang at Km. 180/6-7. He detected a rail fracture and immediately protected the track by placing banner flag and detonators towards and informed the matter to his superior. A passenger train was approaching.  A probable mishap was thus averted.  In recognition of his meritorious service for preventing accident he was awarded a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- alongwith a certificate.

Shri Gagada Ramanna, Gateman/Salbari while performing duty as Gateman on 16.12.2017 noticed that smoke coming out from coach no. NR LWACCN 163902 in Train No-12435 dn Rajdhani Exp. He immediately reported the matter to Station Manager, Dhupguri. The train was stopped at Dhupguri station. Brake binding was detected and released. A probable mishap was thus averted.   A probable mishap was thus averted.  In recognition of his meritorious service for preventing accident he was awarded a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- alongwith a certificate.

Shri Haridas Roy, Track Maintainer, was performing duty as Keyman on 29.12.17 noticed welding defect between Samuktala – Kamakhyaguri at KM 162/1-2 (Up line). He immediately controlled 12507 up by placing banner flag and informed to Jr Engineer /P-Way/Kamkhyaguri. A probable mishap was thus averted.   In recognition of his meritorious service for preventing accident he was awarded a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- alongwith a certificate.

Shri Santosh Kumar Jha, Station Manager while performing duty o­n 04.12.17 at Maniyan station heard unusual sound in the 8thwagon of through FCI Food Grain train. He immediately arranged to control the train. The train was controlled at Kuretha station and the defective wagon was detached due to flat tyre.  Due to his alertness a probable mishap was averted. In recognition of his meritorious service for preventing accident he was awarded a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- alongwith a certificate.

Shri Mukul Linda, Station Manager, Kumedpur while performing duty at Kumedpur station o­n 23.12.17 heard unusual sound in the 6thwagon from the BV of Dn BOST BRN. He immediately arranged to control the train at Bhaluka Road station. Flat tyre was detected and detached. Due to his alertness a probable mishap was averted. In recognition of his meritorious service for preventing accident he was awarded a cash award of Rs. 2,500/- alongwith a certificate.
